Lorne Gettel, Ph.D.

Lorne Gettel holds a Ph.D. in Plasma Physics from the University of British Columbia. His work has been focussed primarily on the development of technologies to reduce emissions from vehicles. He was one of the pioneers in developing technologies to allow natural gas to be used in heavy duty engines, and also in the development of ultra-low emission engines. Lorne was also one of the early workers on computer simulation techniques to design fuel cell stacks. Over the last decade, he has been a pioneer in the development of high performance lithium ion battery packs used in hybrid and electric vehicles. Presently he is working on new technologies for use in advanced battery management systems, which is a critical component of large high power battery packs.
